Texas Tech University, Lubbock, is considering increasing the $675 million endowment’s current 25% investment in hedge funds, says CIO Gary Ratliff.
The maximum allocation to hedge funds is limited to 30% of total assets by school policy. Mr. Ratliff says any increase will come from trimming its $140 million domestic equity portfolio or from the endowment’s $55 million cash allocation.
“It’s a possibility for us, but nothing definitive has been decided,” Mr. Ratliff said. “If we find the right opportunity, then maybe.”
