Brian Baskir was named managing director of U.S. consultant relations at Invesco Institutional, effective Sept. 2, said Jack Markwalter, head of U.S. institutional sales, client service and marketing. The new position will be based in Boston.
Mr. Baskir served as senior vice president and director of consultant relations at Old Mutual Asset Management. An Old Mutual spokesman declined to comment on whether OMAM is replacing him.
Invescos hiring of Mr. Baskir, a 31-year industry veteran, is part of a broader move to beef up the firms institutional sales and consultant relations efforts, reflecting managements view that now is the time to really gain market share in the U.S., Mr. Markwalter said.
Also, Brad Wilson, a senior director on Invescos sales and service team, was named a senior director of consultant relations, expanding the firms consultant relations team to five members from three. Mr. Markwalter said Mr. Wilson will be replaced, with plans to add three to four more sales professionals over the coming six to 12 months, focused on the corporate as well as the endowment and foundation sectors.
Lance Beck was also named a senior director, institutional sales and service, at Invesco, another new position. Mr. Beck had been a director, corporate and institutional sales, with SunTrust Capital Markets. SunTrust spokesman Barry Koling wasnt immediately available for comment.
