The Commodity Futures Trading Commission on Thursday approved NYSE Euronexts NYSE Liffe as a new U.S. futures exchange, NYSE spokesman Eric Ryan said.
NYSE Liffe will be open for trades Sept. 7 with the listing of futures and options on futures for gold and silver contracts. NYSE acquired the listings from CME Group Inc., which had to divest them as part of its acquisition of the New York Mercantile Exchange. The CME-Nymex merger closed today and includes Nymexs precious metals listings.
NYSE executives have said the new futures exchange will quickly add more listings to its roster.
