Oklahoma Firefighters Pension and Retirement System, Oklahoma City, issued an RFP for an active international equity manager to run about $120 million, said Bob Jones, executive director of the $1.7 billion system.
The system seeks core or relative value managers. It will consider firms benchmarked to the MSCI EAFE or MSCI All-Country World ex-U.S. indexes, said Jason Pulos, consultant at Asset Consulting Group, which is assisting.
Oppenheimer Capital now runs the portfolio and can rebid. The system is conducting the search because Elisa Mazen, portfolio manager overseeing its fund, left the firm (See P&I Daily, July 30). Theres no criticism of Oppenheimer historically, Mr. Jones said.
Artio Global Investors runs the other half of the systems 12.5% allocation to international equity. Artio has a growth tilt. The system also has 30% in U.S. large-cap stocks, 20% U.S. bonds, 12.5% U.S. small-cap stocks, 10% long/short equity, and 7.5% each to real estate and low volatility hedge funds.
The RFP is available at http://www.ok.gov/fprs/RFP/index.html. Responses are due by 5 p.m. CDT Sept. 26. A selection is expected Dec. 18.
