HARRISBURG, Pa. Pennsylvania State Employees' Retirement System made up to $149 million in private equity commitments, according to a news release. The $34 billion fund committed up to e25 million ($39 million) to Avenue Europe Special Situations Fund; $30 million to H.I.G. Bayside Debt & LBO Fund II; up to $30 million to Dover Street VII; up to $25 million to Great Hill Equity Partners IV; up to $15 million to Vista Equity Partners Fund III and up to $10 million to Guggenheim Technology Ventures I.
Separately, the system lost 4.1% in the quarter ended March 31, although plan officials said in the news release they believe the loss has been nearly offset by April and May investment gains. The plan's funded ratio was 97.1% as of Dec. 31, up from 92.7% the prior year, due to investment returns of 17.2% in 2007.
Plan spokesman Robert Gentzel did not return a call seeking further details.
