More than half of U.S. retirees, 57%, are living on Social Security and pensions alone, and almost a quarter of retirees admitted they were afraid to spend down their retirement investments, according to Nationwides Retirement Income Confidence Survey released today. The survey of 1,000 individuals ages 55-77 with at least $100,000 in investible assets also showed 37% of retirees and pre-retirees think they can accurately predict what their retirement income will be, and less than half are sure they have the right mix of retirement investments.
