Eric Baggesen was named senior investment officer for global equity at CalPERS. He replaces Christianna Wood, who left in February to join Capital Z Asset Management, a hedge funds incubator. Mr. Baggesen will oversee the pension funds $132 billion publicly traded global equities portfolio, according to a news release from the $250.5 billion California Public Employees Retirement System, Sacramento. He reports to Anne Stausboll, interim CIO. Mr. Baggesen was senior portfolio manager responsible for CalPERS $85.2 billion internally managed global equity strategies. He joined CalPERS in 2004. Information about Mr. Baggesens replacement could not be immediately learned. Clark McKinley, spokesman, could not be immediately reached for comment.
