Actuarial groups to merge

American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries and the College of Pension Actuaries plan to merge, according to a news release. COPA would be a “semi-autonomous body” within ASPPA and known as the ASPPA College of Pension Actuaries. “The collaboration of ASPPA and COPA efforts is a natural progression in the best interests of both organizations,” Rick Block, COPA president, said in the release. The merger is subject to approval of the COPA membership; the boards of both groups have already approved it.
