Phil de Cristo was named president and group executive of Mercers investment businesses, a new position created as part of a broader reorganization of the company. In a telephone interview, Mr. de Cristo said Mercers investment consulting and investment management divisions will both report to him.
Mr. de Cristo was president and global head of Mercers investment management business. Rich Nuzum, New York-based head of Mercers Americas investment consulting business, will succeed Mr. de Cristo. Jeffery Schutes, the U.S. national business leader of Mercer Investment Consulting, will succeed Mr. Nuzum as head of Americas investment consulting. A spokesman said a successor for Mr. Schutes hasnt been chosen.
Separately, Tim Gardener, London-based president and global head of investment consulting, will take on a new role as global chief investment strategist, reporting to Mercer Chairman and CEO Michele Burns. He will be succeeded by Andrew Kirton, formerly the head of investment consulting in Europe. Mr. Kirton will report to Mr. de Cristo. Mr. Kirton, in turn, will be replaced by Tom Geraghty, formerly the head of Mercers investment consulting business in Ireland. A replacement for Mr. Geraghty hasnt been named, a spokesman said.
Mr. de Cristo said the new management structure will allow the firm to better coordinate its efforts as it offers a continuum of solutions to clients.
