Kohlberg Kravis Roberts launched a new global business to invest exclusively in infrastructure projects, to be led by George Bilicic, a managing director and head of infrastructure, according to a news release. KKR has invested in infrastructure as part of a consortium with TPG that last year bought TXU Corp. and in a consortium with Trimaran Capital that bought ITC Holdings in 2003. The new KKR business would be a targeted approach to infrastructure that could include taking minority positions and partnering with governmental agencies in infrastructure deals, sources said.
Mr. Bilicic was a managing director and head of power, energy and infrastructure sectors at Lazard. Judi Mackey, spokeswoman for Lazard, did not return calls by press time seeking information on Mr. Bilicics replacement.
