Aflac Inc. shareholders today voted 93.05% in support of the companys executive compensation policies in the first say-on-pay vote at a U.S. company, according to Laura Kane, second vice president-external communications for the Columbus, Ga., company. Only 2.52% voted against the executive compensation policies; the remaining votes were abstentions. The company-sponsored proposal allowing shareholders a vote on executive compensation policies was non-binding.
Among other proposals at todays annual meeting, 93.96% of shareholders voted to endorse the board of directors amendments to the companys management incentive plan.
All voting results are preliminary, Ms. Kane noted.
