Dennis Johnson, senior portfolio manager overseeing global corporate governance at the $237.3 billion California Public Employees Retirement System, Sacramento, was elected chairman of the Council of Institutional Investors. He succeeds Jack Ehnes, CEO of the $173.3 billion California State Teachers Retirement System, Sacramento, who was chairman for the past three years. Mr. Johnson is one of nine public fund members of the 15-member CII board, which also includes four members representing labor union funds and two members representing corporate funds.
New members to the board are Lydia Beebe, corporate secretary and chief governance officer, Chevron Corp.; Kenneth Colombo, fund coordinator, Sheet Metal Workers National Pension Plan; Meredith Miller, assistant treasurer for policy, Connecticut Retirement Plans & Trust Funds; Gregory Smith, general counsel, Colorado Public Employees Retirement Association; and Gail Hanson, deputy executive director, State of Wisconsin Investment Board.
