The CFTCs Office of General Counsel today said it would allow German futures exchange Eurex to directly sell eight equity futures contracts based on major European indexes. The futures contracts are based on the Dow Jones STOXX Large 200 and Small indexes; Dow Jones STOXX 600 Industrial Goods & Services index; Dow Jones STOXX 600 Insurance index; Dow Jones STOXX 600 Media index; Dow Jones STOXX 600 Personal & Household Goods index; Dow Jones STOXX 600 Travel & Leisure index; and Dow Jones STOXX 600 Utilities index.
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has already allowed a number of equity index futures listed on Eurex to be sold to investors in the U.S. since its first futures contract on the DAX index in 1994.
