California State Teachers Retirement System, Sacramento, and the Los Angeles City Employees Retirement System each invested in the GO European Focus Fund, a corporate governance fund that invests in European public companies, confirmed Andre Flemmings, spokesman for Governance for Owners, which offers the fund. LACERS spokesman Steven Reifel said the $11.1 billion system committed $35 million. Ricardo Duran, CalSTRS spokesman, said the $173.7 billion system has not finalized the contract and he couldnt provide details of the commitment.
The two commitments, plus an additional commitment from an existing investor, total $485 million, raising the funds total size to $1.5 billion. Mr. Flemmings declined to give further details.
