Raudline Etienne was named CIO of the $154 billion New York State Common Retirement Fund, Albany, effective March 3, according to a news release from the New York State Comptroller’s office said. She replaces David Loglisci, who resigned in spring 2007. Executive recruiter Heidrick & Struggles assisted in the search.
Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli and Ms. Etienne “share the same perspective on strong performance, but also on running an open, transparent and ethical shop. That was very important to him,” said Dennis Tompkins, spokesman for the comptroller. Mr. Tompkins also said that Ms. Etienne’s experience with alternatives was particularly important to Mr. DiNapoli.
Ms. Etienne was a managing director for Rogerscasey, responsible for investment consulting to several large and small public retirement systems. She was at Rogerscasey for 11 years. T. Patrick Mulvey, a managing director for Rogerscasey, said the firm “will be able to absorb the clients” Ms. Etienne served. “We think really highly of Raudline,” he said. “She’s done a lot for the firm. The comptroller is lucky to have her.”
