New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine today signed a bill prohibiting the states pension and annuity funds from investing in foreign companies doing business in Iran, said spokesman Jim Gardener.
The bill, sponsored by Assemblyman Neil Cohen, will prohibit the states pension funds from buying stock in foreign companies doing business in Iran. Most U.S. companies are already barred from operating in Iran.
The $81.8 billion New Jersey Division of Investment, Trenton, last year divested investments in companies doing business in Sudan.
