Mike Burnside was named executive director of the $17.3 billion Kentucky Retirement Systems, Frankfort, effective Jan. 3. He replaces William Hanes, who announced his retirement earlier this year. A nationwide search was conducted by Hudepohl & Associates, according to a news release from the system. Mr. Burnside was secretary of finance and administration under former Kentucky Gov. Ernie Fletcher, who lost a re-election bid in November.
