The states with the lowest pension fund funding levels at the end of fiscal 2006 were West Virginia, 55%; Connecticut and Rhode Island, both at 56%; and Oklahoma, 59%. Hawaii, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Washington saw the steepest declines in funding levels between 2000 and 2006 but did not have the lowest levels, as reported in a Dec. 18 P&I Daily item.
