Vikram Pandit was named CEO of Citigroup today, succeeding Charles Prince, who resigned as chairman and CEO last month. Mr. Pandit has been chairman and CEO of Citis institutional clients group, which consists of Citi Alternative Investments and Citi Markets & Banking; a Citigroup spokeswoman could not immediately say how Mr. Pandits previous role will be filled.
Citi also announced that Win Bischoff, acting CEO of Citi for the last several weeks, will be chairman. Robert Rubin, chairman of the board since Mr. Prince left, will return to his previous role as board member and chairman of the boards executive committee.
