Institutional Shareholder Services, the most prominent name in corporate governance, is gone.
RiskMetrics Group, which acquired ISS in January, dropped the name as part of a restructuring to combine all of its business units under the RiskMetrics label.
To solidify the new structure, Institutional Shareholder Services will now be known as RiskMetrics Groups ISS Corporate Governance Services unit.
The Center for Financial Research and Analysis will be called RiskMetrics Groups Financial Research and Analysis Services. RiskMetrics acquired CFRA Holding LLC, owner of the Center for Financial Research and Analysis, in August.
Among other changes, RiskMetrics replaced the ISS website and blog, as well as the CFRA website, putting them under riskmetrics.com.
RiskMetrics other business unit is its existing risk management services offering quantitative risk modeling; in addition, it has an experimentation group, RiskMetrics Labs.
While separate and distinct, these four groups will work together in leveraging the breadth of our research, data and technologies and in identifying new ways of assessing risk in financial markets, CEO Ethan Berman wrote in a letter to clients.
No personnel changes resulted from the corporate restructuring, said Sarah Cohn, spokeswoman.
