CME Group will launch an E-mini futures contract Oct. 22 on the MSCI Emerging Markets index. It is based on 800 stocks representing the largest floated companies in 25 emerging countries, including Brazil, China, Russia and India, said CME spokeswoman Mary Haffenberg.
The new cash-settled contract, which will trade on the CMEs Globex platform, will allow institutional investors to hedge risk or gain exposure in their emerging equity market portfolios. Asset managers can already hedge risk in 21 developed markets with the E-mini MSCI EAFE futures contract, which the CME introduced last year.
