Stark Investments LP is the only hedge fund manager to earn the human resource industrys equivalent of the Good Housekeeping Stamp of Approval as a really great place to work.
Stark Investments ranked fifth on the 2007 list of the 25 best midsize companies to work in America. Stark was the only money manager to make the grade among companies with between 251 and 999 employees. The list is compiled by the San Francisco-based Great Place to Work Institute and sponsored by the Society for Human Resource Management, Alexandria, Va. Companies are ranked by results of an employee satisfaction survey as well as on the diversity of the workplace, benefits and perks.
Mike Roth, a Stark co-founder, attributed the firms ranking in an announcement from the company to a collaborative environment where a culture of respect and a desire to seek input from everyone has contributed to enormous loyalty among Starks associates.
In addition to great benefits, St. Francis, Wis.-based Stark Investments received high marks for its fair company culture. For example, all employees, right down to security staff and cafeteria workers including the firms on-site gourmet chef receive bonuses based on the performance of Starks $12 billion family of hedge funds. Also, all employees can vote annually for the charities to which the firm should make donations.
