Employees Retirement System of Texas, Austin, hired Altius Associates as its first private equity consultant, pending negotiations, confirmed Mary Jane Wardlow, spokeswoman. Officials of the $24 billion fund are working on adding a private equity allocation, after receiving approval last year, and Altius will assist with the implementation. If contract negotiations are unsuccessful, the system has chosen Hamilton Lane as a backup, Ms. Wardlow said.
