Freeman Associates Investment Management introduced its first 130/30 portfolio, confirmed Michael Bishopp, president. The strategy, which he expects to outperform the Russell 1000 index by 300 to 400 basis points, reflects a desire by institutional investors to loosen constraints on managers in order to bring in returns, said Mr. Bishopp. The $4.5 billion firm seeded the portfolio with $1 million of its own money.
