Deere & Co., Moline, Ill., expects to contribute $171 million to its pension plans in 2007, according to Deere's annual report released today. Last year, it contributed $68 million. The company had a total of $8.9 billion in worldwide pension assets and $8.7 billion in pension obligations as of Oct. 31, the report said.
Deere contributed $100 million to its defined contribution plan in 2006 and $81 million in 2005, according to the report. It did not project DC contributions for 2007. The company's 401(k) plan had $3.05 billion in assets as of Sept. 30, according to information the company submitted to Pensions & Investments.
