Mergent, a business and financial data provider owned by Shanghai-based Xinhua Finance, and Ryan ALM, an independent bond market research and asset management firm, have formed a partnership to develop fixed-income indexes. The indexes will be licensed to support investment products such as ETFs and mutual funds.
Mergent's databases will provide the information "to produce a new generation of bond indexes," Ronald Ryan, CEO of Ryan ALM, said in a statement. Mergent's spokesman John Dooley said there were no details immediately available regarding the construction of the new family of indexes.
Mergent's databases include equity, debt and corporate action information for 15,000 U.S. public companies and 20,000 international public companies.
