U.S.-listed ETF assets rose by 1.1% in January to $421.7 billion, according to State Street Global Advisors' monthly tabulation of industry trends. SSgA reported small-cap ETFs ended the month down $3.3 billion, and large-cap ETFs were down $1.8 billion. Assets in international ETFs, however, climbed $2.9 billion; style-based ETFs rose $1.9 billion; specialty ETFs gained $1.3 billion; and sector-focused ETFs added $1.2 billion. Among other categories, commodity-focused ETFs ended the month with a $750 million gain, and fixed income ETFs added $415 million.
