For the 2007 proxy season, a total of 115 shareholder proposals are pending on executive pay issues, and 99 proposals call for a majority vote to elect directors, according to an Institutional Shareholder Services report.
Of all the 2007 proposals pending, 311 proposals deal with corporate governance, and 75 proposals deal with social issues. Majority-vote proposals generated the largest number of proposals of any single issue, the report states, followed by disclosure of corporate political contributions, sought by 40 of the proposals pending. Among executive pay issues, 39 deal with linking pay to performance and 29 seek an advisory vote on executive compensation.
In 2006, shareholders voted on 17 proposals linking pay to performance, 94 majority vote proposals, and 28 proposals on political contribution disclosure, the report noted.
