Dick Sluimers will be the new chairman of the board of directors for the €194 billion ($256.29 billion) Stichting Pensioenfonds ABP, Heerlen, Netherlands, starting Jan. 1, according to a news release. Mr. Sluimers replaces John Neervens, who died in November. Previously the director general for the budget at the Dutch Ministry of Finance, Mr. Sluimers joined ABP in 2003 as CFO. He had also been acting chairman during the past year, when Mr. Neervens was ill. "We are glad that we have been able to ensure management continuity," Elco Brinkman, chairman of ABP's executive committee, said in the release.
Ruthe Catolico Ashley was named diversity officer of external affairs at CalPERS, said Clark McKinley, spokesman. It is a new position. Ms. Ashley will work with the investment office at the $225.3 billion California Public Employees' Retirement System, Sacramento, to expand investment opportunities in emerging and diverse markets, according to a news release. She will join CalPERS on Jan. 16. Ms. Ashley was assistant dean for career and professional development at the University of the Pacific's McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, Calif. She is currently a vice president of the State Bar of California.
Kristine M. Chadwick was named CFO and associate executive director of finance at the SEC, according to an SEC news release. She replaces Margaret J. Carpenter, who will retire in January. Ms. Chadwick was CFO of the Department of Agriculture's farm service agency.
