T. Britton Harris IV accepted the CIO post at the $100 billion Teacher Retirement System of Texas, Austin, confirmed spokesman Howard Goldman. Mr. Harris will oversee the investment division of the TRS fund, the sixth-largest public pension fund in the U.S. Mr. Harris, who left his post as CEO of Bridgewater Associates after five months in June 2005, replaces James Hille, who left the plan in spring to be CIO of Texas Christian University, which has a $1 billion endowment. "The fact that he has experience managing funds as large as TRS with successful returns in alternative investments is promising for TRS and our members," said Jarvis Hollingsworth, TRS board chairman, in a news release.
