The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Foundation Investment Fund had $1.48 billion in assets as of June 30, according to an endowment news release. The endowment's investment return was 19.2% for the year ended June 30, outperforming the 14.1% return of its in-house benchmark. The UNC endowment has only had two higher returns in the past 20 years, 27.3% in fiscal 2000 and 19.7% in 1999.
