Delphi Corp., Troy, Mich., contributed $61 million to its U.S. pension plans this month, according to a filing the auto parts company made earlier today. A minimum funding payment of $300 million was due today, but because Delphi filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last year it was only required to pay "the portion of the contribution attributable to post-bankruptcy-petition service," according to the filing. The unpaid portion of the contribution will remain as a claim against the company. Pensions & Investments estimated Delphi's pension assets at $8.7 billion as of Sept. 30.
