State Street Global Advisors announced an organizational restructuring to support its business expansion outside of the U.S., spokeswoman Arlene Roberts confirmed. Mark Lazberger was appointed president of SSgA's international business, based in London. He was former head of the international business. The new position reflects "his increased responsibility and the growing importance of our non-U.S. business, Ms. Roberts said in an e-mail. Kanesh Lakhani was promoted to U.K. managing director. The former head of European marketing and consultant relations replaced Paul Duncombe, who has left to pursue "other opportunities, according to spokesman Stephen Sheppard. Mr. Sheppard declined to provide details about Mr. Duncombe's departure. Other appointments include Mike Wilson, who remains head of private equity division SSgA Ventures but will move to London from Tokyo to take on more client relationship management responsibilities. Andrew Astley, who will move to London from Boston, was appointed COO for Europe. Ava Williams replaced Mr. Astley in his previous role as head of new product development. Greg Ehret will also move to London from Boston as European head of sales and distribution. He was former co-head of sales of ETFs, mutual funds and separately managed accounts, along with James Ross. The two roles have been restructured, with Tony Rochte appointed as head of U.S. intermediary sales and client service while Mr. Ross now focuses on new product development, including ETFs, Ms. Roberts said. Non-U.S. assets under management account for about a third of SSgA's $1.5 trillion total as of June 30.
Alice Kurtz joined Sentinel Benefits, an employee benefit and retirement consultant, as an ERISA compliance officer, said Elise Lapham, spokeswoman for Sentinel. It is a new position. Ms. Kurtz will be responsible for providing recommendations on 401(k) plan design and compliance issues. She was a senior manager at Ernst & Young. Catherine Pulley, spokeswoman for Ernst & Young, did not return calls seeking information about a replacement for Ms. Kurtz.
