

Amy Chen was named director of investments at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, effective next month, according to an e-mail sent to Smithsonian employees by Sheila Burke, deputy secretary and COO. Ms. Chen will report to Ms. Burke. The position was created to oversee the Smithsonian's $800 million endowment; fund officials are restructuring the investment portfolio under the direction of Treasurer Sudeep Anand, according to the e-mail. No further details were available; Ms. Chen is a portfolio manager at the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, New York, where she managed $1.8 billion in assets, according to Ms. Burke's e-mail. Doris Duke spokeswoman Lillian Osei-Boateng was not available for comment at press time.
