Hyperion Brookfield Asset Management hired a high-yield fixed-income team from Evergreen Investments, confirmed Marion Hayes, assistant vice president at Hyperion Brookfield. The team is led by Dana Erikson, managing director and senior portfolio manager, who was head of high yield at Evergreen and the lead portfolio manager on the Evergreen High Yield Bond, Evergreen VA High Income and Evergreen Income Advantage funds. Also on the team is Richard Cryan, managing director and senior portfolio manager; he was a portfolio manager and head of Evergreen's institutional and separate account high-yield business. Mark Shipley and Alicia Heslop, both directors and senior analysts of high-yield credit research for Hyperion Brookfield, were directors and senior analysts on the Evergreen high-yield team. And John McManus Jr. will be Hyperion Brookfield's director of high-yield trading; he was the head trader for the Evergreen high-yield group. Hyperion Brookfield has $19 billion in assets under management. At Evergreen, Mr. Erikson was replaced by Gary Pzegeo, who was named managing director and interim head of the high-yield team, said spokeswoman Laura Fay. Mr. Pzegeo was a director and portfolio specialist on the high-yield team. Ms. Fay said Evergreen is about to search for a new head of high yield, adding that Mr. Pzegeo will be supported by the remaining analysts in the Evergreen high-yield group.
