The Illinois Teachers' Retirement System, Springfield, earned 12.2% on its investments for the year ended June 30, exceeding its custom benchmark of 11.3%, according to a system news release. The $36.5 billion system earned annualized returns of 13.4% for the three years ended June 30, 8.3% for five years and 9.4% over 10 years.
As of June 30, TRS held approximately 43% of its assets in domestic equities, 23% in fixed income, 19% in international equities, 11% in real estate and 4% in private equity.
