The Indiana Public Employees' Retirement Fund, Indianapolis, committed $75 million to a Horsley Bridge buyout and venture capital fund and $50 million to an Oaktree Capital Management Asia-Pacific private equity fund, pending further due diligence, legal review and final approval, said Jeff Hutson, director of communications for the $14.6 billion fund.
The Horsley Bridge fund invests primarily in Europe and Asia, according to a memorandum earlier this month to the Indiana plan's board by CIO Shawn D. Wischmeier.
The OCM fund will focus on Japan and greater China, according to another memo from Mr. Wischmeier. Since the plan committed $30 million to OCM Principal Opportunities Fund VI last year, it "has invested 70% of capital and generated a 28.3% (internal rate of return)," the memo said.
