Delphi Corp., Troy, Mich., contributed about $60 million to its $6.8 billion U.S. pension plans on July 14, according to a 10-Q filing. Delphi had about $2.3 billion in unfunded U.S. pension obligations as of Dec. 31. Delphi also contributed $57 million to the plans in January, according to spokeswoman Claudia Piccinin. Company officials expect to contribute a total of about $200 million to the U.S. pension plans in 2006.
Delphi has been in Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection since October.
