The June 26 Page 1 article, "Strategists: Don't cook the DB goose," left out one other factor favoring defined benefit plans over defined contribution plans: The ability to make up for market shortfalls in DB plans by boosting contributions.
DC plans are limited by statute to maximum contributions levels by participants.
I am no pension expert, but that would seem to have a significant impact on the long-term success of DC plans.
