Former Credit Suisse Managing Director Jim Vos is forming a hedge fund advisory company that will assist institutional investors in making direct hedge fund and private equity investments. Mr. Vos, who was head of hedge fund research and selection at Credit Suisse, declined to give his new firm's name, acting on the advice of the firm's attorney, he said.
Mr. Vos said the new firm should be operating by the end of September. It will be registered with the SEC, based in New York, and will serve both U.S. and non-U.S. clients. Mr. Vos, who is CEO and managing partner, said the firm's first two hires - Joseph P. Larucci and Patrick Adelsbach - also are former Credit Suisse employees. Mr. Larucci was director and head of equity long/short hedge fund manager selection, and Mr. Adelsbach was director and head of event-driven and credit hedge fund manager selection. Mr. Vos did not have exact titles for the two but said their roles will be similar to those at Credit Suisse.
Ed G. Robertiello replaced Mr. Vos in Credit Suisse's hedge fund-of-funds unit at the end of 2005. Mr. Vos said he left Credit Suisse in early April and declined further comment. Suzanne Fleming, a CSAM spokeswoman, said the firm will make an announcement about replacements for Messrs. Larucci and Adelsbach in the near future, but did not provide details.
