The Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association, Pasadena, Calif., will issue an RFP for a private equity consultant if the board approves the search at its June 28 meeting, said Christopher J. Wagner, senior investment analyst, private equity, for the $34 billion fund. The contract of Pathway Capital Management, the current consultant to the association's $2 billion private equity portfolio, expires at the end of the year, Mr. Wagner said. Pathway Capital can rebid. Details of the RFP have not been finalized.
Separately, the board hired Relational Investors, Blum Capital Partners and Shamrock Holdings to manage $100 million each in activist corporate governance domestic equity portfolios, said Juan M. Almaguer, principal investment officer, public markets. Funding for the new allocation will come from reducing a domestic equity index fund managed by Barclays Global Investors, which runs a total of $8 billion in equity index assets for the fund. Mr. Almaguer couldn't provide further details.
