Noble Asset Management Ltd., London, just opened its doors to investors with an investment appetite for brand new hedge fund managers.
NAM offers institutional, family office and high-net-worth investors access to early stage hedge fund managers through direct investment, customized portfolios, structured portfolios and hedge funds of funds, said Shabir Chowdhary, managing director. NAM handles all due diligence and management selection on behalf of investors, while providing new hedge fund management teams with centralized infrastructure and operations as well as distribution.
"We are looking at the broad spectrum of strategies and styles across all markets," Mr. Chowdhary said. NAM's first emerging manager fund launches will focus on European managers, mainly London-based, but the firm is talking with several "high caliber investment teams" in Asia and will also eventually look for start-up hedge fund managers from the U.S., he added.
The company's first fund will open in May, and investors will likely be evenly split between institutional and high-net-worth clients. In fact, the fund's first seeder is a large institutional investor that Mr. Chowdhary declined to identify. Another fund launch later this year will be seeded by a group of family offices that have set up a drawdown facility that NAM can tap for seeding purposes.
