San Francisco City & County Employees' Retirement System chose nine finalists in its search for at least two managers to run a total of about $1.3 billion in active international core and growth equities, said David Kushner, deputy director for investments at the $14.6 billion fund. In addition to incumbents Capital Guardian and Oechsle International Advisors, the finalists are: Acadian Asset Management, AQR Capital Management, Barclays Global Investors, AllianceBernstein, Julius Baer Investment Management, New Star Institutional Managers and William Blair. Angeles Investment Advisors is assisting.
The board also approved a recommendation to renew the system's contract with real estate consultant The Townsend Group for five years, Mr. Kushner said. The current contract expires in June. Courtland Partners was the other finalist in the search. An RFP was issued in March.
In addition, investment staff approved a recommendation to invest up to $25 million in Fox Paine Capital Partners III and up to $20 million in Windjammer Senior Equity Fund III.
