Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund, Columbus, hired Mellon Capital Management and FX Concepts as currency overlay managers; each firm will oversee a notional amount of $100 million. The $10.7 billion system issued an RFP in February.
Also, fund officials sometime this year will search for a long-short domestic equity manager, said David Graham, spokesman. Further details, such as the asset size of the portfolio or when the RFP will be issued, have not been decided, he said.
The hires and the search are part of the system's plan, established in 2004, to allocate 10% of the fund's assets to portable alpha.
