Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund, Columbus, will issue an RFP sometime this year for a long-short domestic equity manager, said David Graham, spokesman for the $10.7 billion fund. Further details, such as the asset size of the portfolio or when the RFP will be issued, have not been decided, he said.
Fund officials also hired Mellon Capital Management and FX Concepts as currency overlay managers; each firm will oversee a notional amount of $100 million. The system issued an RFP in February. Russell Investment Group assisted.
The search and the hires are part of the system's plan, established in 2004, to allocate 10% of the fund's assets to portable alpha.
