Morgan Stanley reported $442 billion in assets under management for its fiscal first quarter ended Feb. 28, a 2.6% increase from the previous quarter, according to a filing with the SEC today. For the year, Morgan Stanley's assets increased by 3.5%.
Institutional assets under management increased 6.5% during the quarter to $247 billion. For the year, institutional assets were up 9.3%.
The company attributed the increase to market appreciation, "partly offset by customer outflows." Morgan Stanley reported total outflows of $5.2 billion for the quarter — $3.1 billion in retail and $2.1 billion in institutional assets.
