Young D. Chin was appointed CIO of Pyramis Global Advisors, the firm Fidelity Investments launched a year ago as its separate institutional asset management arm. It is a new position. Sources familiar with Mr. Chin said he brings a quantitative background to Pyramis. Mr. Chin was president and CEO of Gartmore Global Investments and CIO of the U.S. operation. Gartmore spokesman Ed Dunn said Mr. Chin will leave April 3. Gartmore's global CEO, Paul Hondros, will be interim U.S. CIO while working with parent Nationwide on a search to replace Mr. Chin, Mr. Dunn said. Fidelity spokesman Steve Austin declined to comment.
