Peter J. Wilby, formerly CIO of fixed income at Citigroup Asset Management, said he will launch a money management firm, Stone Harbor Investment Partners, on April 3. The new firm will have headquarters in New York City and an office in London. Mr. Wilby and Legg Mason, which absorbed CAM late last year, previously announced that he would be leaving to set up a new firm. Mr. Wilby declined to provide further details.
Scott C. Evans was named executive vice president of TIAA-CREF Asset Management and CEO of investment advisory subsidiaries Teachers Advisors Inc. and TIAA-CREF Investment Management, said Glen Weiner, spokesman. This is a new position. Mr. Evans will be responsible for developing TIAA-CREF's investment products. He was CIO of TIAA-CREF; Edward J. Grzybowski, vice president and head of investment services, will replace him. Michael Gold, a vice president in the asset management arm, will replace Mr. Grzybowski, said Mr. Weiner.
James Robinson joined defined contribution plan service provider The Newport Group as vice president and chief actuary, leading the firm's financial and actuarial services group, said Lizz Holmes, spokeswoman. He replaces Kathryn Hyland, who left the firm. Mr. Robinson was a vice president with CIGNA Corp. Ruth Stoolman, spokeswoman for CIGNA, did not return calls by press time for comment.
