The Chicago Mercantile Exchange on Feb. 17 named Philip E. Harris director of foreign exchange products, touting in a news release that he "has nearly 20 years of experience in the global financial services industry."
He is 35 years old now, which would make him about 15 when he started working in the industry.
And that would be correct, said Laurie C. Bischel, CME spokeswoman."He did begin his work as a junior dealer when he was very young," she said.
Before taking the newly created position at CME, Mr. Harris was senior sales manager for Lava Trading Inc., New York, where he was responsible for selling its trading platform to commodity trading advisers, hedge funds and other asset managers.
Ms. Bischel said Mr. Harris declined a request for an interview, preferring to wait for at least a few weeks. "Phil is still getting his feet wet," Ms. Bischel said.
Hey, at 15, he dived right in.
