New York State Teachers Retirement System, Albany, will commit a total of $577 million to the following funds, pending due diligence examinations of the firms, according to minutes of the $84 billion system's Jan. 25-26 board meeting. The commitments are: $121 million to the Fourth Cinven Fund; $100 million each to Carlyle/Riverstone Global Energy and Power Fund III and Madison Dearborn Capital Partners V; $91 million to Charterhouse Capital Partners VIII; $50 million each to Fairview Venture Partners III and VantagePoint Venture Partners 2006; $35 million to Apex Venture Partners VI; and $30 million to Hutton Collins Capital Partners II.
John Cardillo, system spokesman, said the fund's total target dollar allocation to private equity is about $6.5 billion, and the new commitments bring its actual allocation to about $3 billion. He added there is no timeframe to allocate the remainder.
